Mynydd Deulyn Mines

Location: The Mines are north east of Llyn Crafnant, from a large car park walk up the public footpath that leads to the monument at the end of Llyn Geirionydd. Just over 1/4 of a mile up this are the Mines.
Nat. Grid Ref: SH759617
Date of last visit: 1 January 2002

The Mines start immediately next to the path with a large cavern visible, this cavern goes back about 80 meters. There are remnants of some buildings near the entrance. At first glance they appear to be Slate Mines but on inspection of some ore vanes at the back of the chamber, we realised it was most probably a Lead Mine.

There are a series of chambers like this one going up the side of the hill. We were actually on a New Years day ramble so the Mine was really a slight detour, we do plan to go back with some more equipment to look at the rest of the system.
