The Royal Observer Corps - Amlwch Post
The Amlwch ROC site can be easily seen from the road, unfortunately there is not much left to see. Parking by the library you walk up past the school and along the public footpath about a 100 yards or so to the cell phone tower. All that remains of the site is part of the original compound fence and the compound gate. You will notice that it is exactly the same type of gate that is found at the Marianglas Post. The cell phone tower and its compound covers about half of the site, but in the remaining part of the old compound there are some patches of concrete. This suggests the cell phone company just sealed and caped the shafts rather than completely demolishing the underground bunker. More information of this location can also be found on the ROC Database. Back to Military Main Page |
